چکیده
Mild encephalitis / encephalopathy with reversible splenial syndrome (MERS) is a rare clinico-radiological entity characterized by mild to moderate neurological symptoms following prodrome. Numerous infectious causes have been documented, most common being viruses and few bacteria (E. coli, Salmonella, Streptococcus & Legionella). MRI typically shows an isolated lesion in the splenium of corpus callosum, rarely other white matter regions. Here, we discuss 13 years old boy presenting us like transient ischemic attack but turning out be MERS on neuroimaging. The improved symptomatically 72 hrs spontaneous resolution within four weeks

Aarskog-Scott Syndrome: Clinico-Radiological Illustration of a Rare Case
Aarskog-Scott Syndrome is a rare syndrome and is estimated to occur in 1 in 1 million individuals in general population. It is transmitted in an X-linked recessive manner and occurs due to FGD1 gene mutation. It has facial, genital and digital hands symptoms, musculoskeletal anomalies and affected growth. Here we present a case of Aarskog-Scott syndrome in an 18-year-old male patient with the c...
متن کاملTopiramate-induced Neuropathy Mimicking Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: A Case Report
Carpel tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a condition in which median nerve compression results in paresthesias and pain in thewrist and hand. We are going to report a rare case of topiramate-induced neuropathy which clinically resembles CTS.Discontinuation of topiramate resulted in spontaneous resolution of numbness, paresthesia and pain in a few days. Highclinical suspicion is advised in patients who a...
متن کاملCleidocranial dysplasia: clinico-radiological illustration of a rare case.
Cleidocranial dysplasia is an autosomal dominant condition caused by mutation of RUNX2, characterized by generalized dysplasia of the bones and teeth. Affected individuals have short stature, atypical facial features, and skeletal anomalies affecting mainly the skull and clavicle. The dental manifestations are mainly delayed exfoliation of the primary teeth and delayed eruption of the permanent...
متن کاملSpontaneous spinal epidural hematoma mimicking transient ischemic attack
RATIONALE Spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma (SSEH) is a rare but highly disabling neurological emergency. The initial presentations are variable. Most patients of SSEH present with paraplegia or tetraplegia clinically, but recurrent hemiparesis with complete spontaneous recovery, mimicking transient ischemic attack (TIA), is a very rare initial presentation of SSEH. PATIENT CONCERNS A 71-y...
متن کاملdifferentiation of true transient ischemic attack versus transient ischemic attack mimics.
background: previous literatures have shown a transient ischemic attack (tia) mimic rate of 9-31%. we aimed to ascertain the proportion of stroke mimics amongst suspected tia patients. methods: a prospective observational study was performed in ghaem hospital, mashhad, iran during 2012-2013. consecutive tia patients were identified in a stroke center. the initial diagnosis of ...
